Update: Freedom Formation Aerobatic Display

We would like to share an important update regarding the Freedom Formation Team’s planned appearance at Fly’n For Fun. Due to circumstances beyond the teams control, they are now unfortunately unable to attend and display at the event.

Fly’n For Fun will still feature a fantastic line-up of activities and displays, and we look forward to delivering an engaging and memorable aviation experience for all attendees. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Jabiru Film Night

Courtesy of our Silver Sponsor Jabiru Aircraft, Fly’n For Fun 2026 will feature an aviation film night!

Escape under the stars and join Jabiru for a memorable campfire film night! Settle in with fellow aviation enthusiasts around the fire, with the option to enjoy under-wing camping right on the airfield. Grab a drink from the bar, sing along to classic tunes, and put your aviation knowledge to the test with fun trivia. Then, settle in to enjoy a classic aviation film that captures the excitement of flight, share stories with fellow aviation enthusiasts, and soak up the one-of-a-kind atmosphere of planes all around you. It’s the perfect way to connect, relax, and make memories that will last long after the embers fade!

STEM Activities

That Pilot Guy (Cran Middlecoat) will deliver an interactive STEM experience combining hands-on learning with high-energy inspiration. Participants will dive into the science behind flight and rocketry before taking part in thrilling water rocket launches, blasting up to 60 metres into the air.

Alongside the launches, Cran will also present an engaging seminar that delves into the realities of professional aviation. For professional pilots, every flight, every manoeuvre and every decision is scrutinised. Yet it’s not flawless execution that defines true mastery—it’s the ability to navigate failure with resilience and wisdom.

Cran explains why he never aims for perfection, inviting the audience to explore the thinking behind his approach. So if not perfection, what is the goal? Join us at Parkes and find out.

Parkes Aero Club BBQ

The Parkes Aero Club is rolling out the welcome mat for all Fly’n For Fun attendees arriving on Friday with a casual, friendly BBQ at the Aero Club. It’s the perfect chance to kick off the weekend, grab a bite, and mingle with fellow aviation enthusiasts in a relaxed, social setting.

Whether you’re flying in, driving, or just stopping by, the BBQ offers a warm welcome, great food, and an opportunity to connect with the local flying community before the event officially takes off.

Avoiding Loss of Control Webinar

Inflight Loss of Control (LOC-I) remains the leading cause of fatal accidents in general aviation — and the second most common category isn’t even close. Because of this, LOC-I continues to be a critical focus area in flight training worldwide.

In this webinar, internationally recognised safety expert Rich Stowell will explore where and when LOC-I is most likely to occur, the typical chain of events that lead to these accidents, and how pilots can break that chain. He will also highlight the importance of pushing learning beyond rote knowledge to the correlation level — where true understanding and decision-making capability are developed.

Rich Stowell began flying in 1982 and has specialised in spin, emergency manoeuvre, and aerobatic instruction since 1987. Often described as a grandfather of modern Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), he is the author of Emergency Maneuver Training and The Light Airplane Pilot’s Guide to Stall/Spin Awareness.

A 20-year Master Flight Instructor (Emeritus), Stowell has delivered more than 500 safety presentations and is widely recognised as a subject matter expert in loss of control in light aircraft. His distinguished career includes being named the 2006 US National Flight Instructor of the Year and the 2014 US National FAA Safety Team Representative of the Year. He has served as an NTSB panelist in Washington, DC, and as an expert witness for the US Department of Justice Aviation, Space, and Admiralty Litigation Section.

With support from Avemco Insurance and Hartzell Propeller, Rich launched his free Learn to Turn program in 2021 to help reduce LOC-I accidents, followed by The Nine Principles of Light Airplane Flying in 2022.

In 2024, Rich visited Caboolture Airfield in Australia as a guest of Strike Aviation, where he conducted a weekend training clinic and participated in a two-day industry forum.

With over 10,600 hours of flight time, including 9,600 hours of instruction given, 35,800 spins and 27,000 landings, Rich brings unparalleled depth of experience — along with a mechanical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute — to this essential safety discussion.
